9. Junkers Ju 88
Germany - 1936
Of the three twin-engine bombers with which the Luftwaffe started the war, the Junkers 88 proved to be the most capable, most produced, and most widely used. Pressed into virtually every role a twin engine aircraft can perform, the Ju 88 served as a level bomber, dive bomber, night fighter, reconnaissance aircraft, torpedo bomber, ground attack aircraft, and even as remote-controlled bomb. Shown here is a Ju 88A-5 from 8./KG 76 that served on the Eastern Front during the winter of 1941-42.
